The international community cannot forget about
Afghanistan without coming to regret it. The destiny of many
empires has played out in this crossroads of three civilizations
in the heart of Asia. Now a part of the world’s destiny is surely
playing out there too.
What is really known about Afghanistan and its
people, aside from the hashish of the hippies of the 60's, and the
tribes and ethnicities of the “specialists” of the 80's and 90’s,
who were financed by their governments, institutions, and factions
and only stayed a few weeks?
This work arrives at an opportune moment, as at
this moment the Afghan people and the international community have
undertaken the Herculean task of constructing an Afghanistan of
the future. It is to this very end that the third part of the
book is dedicated to presenting and analyzing, in clear and simple
terms, the choices and directions that confront both Afghanistan
and the rest of the Muslim world.
